We are aware of the following schemes that allow one to have a tree planted locally and cared for by a third party.
Please
let us know if you come across any others.
This column contains a short introduction to the link.
(West Sussex County Council)
West Sussex County Council runs a Donate a Tree scheme for residents wishing to contribute to its tree planting programme on the publicly-adopted highway network. It is primarily aimed at residents who would like a new tree to be planted outside their property and subject to site assessment for its suitability. The cost is subsidised, but reflects the need to plant sturdy trees capable of withstanding the often-hostile environment of a street tree. For successful tree establishment, tree watering will be needed by volunteers.
Chichester Tree Wardens' Mind the Gap projects in 2020 and 2021 used this scheme to deliver tree planting in the Orchard Street area, Parklands and Whyke. We would gladly help other residents wishing to have a community conversation in their road to do the same. Please get in touch.
(Chichester District Council)
Chichester District Council owns/manages a number of parks/gardens. Its tree planting offer is currently hidden away in the Biodiversity section of its website. Encouragement to sponsor a tree was the focus of a CDC News article from 4th February 2020.
